Hilary
This series inspires me in two ways. The first is, to see how far women have come, with Hilary as one of the influential woman leading the path for all of us. The second is, how far we, as women, still need to go in order to get past the superficial constraints, barriers, and the inequality that clearly still exists. What Hilary Clinton has accomplished over her life and has had to live through in order to open doors for herself and for all women is extraordinary. The work that she is still doing to make change is an inspiration to how one person really can make a difference. This is a much watch regardless of what you think you already know about Hilary. |
Beyoncé:
Life is But a Dream & Year of 4
I know that this is two documentaries but there are few powerhouse women that exist like Beyoncé in the world that could be no better virtual mentor!! The pure work ethic, self belief, and creativity mixed with a down to earth quality that Beyoncé Knowles possesses is a recipe for success that I am looking to bake up for myself. The drive, determination and willingness to go outside of the box is something that I look to emulate and that I return to again and again when I need inspiration. She truly puts everything she has into designing a life that she loves and creating an experience for her fans which is so evident in these films. Trust me, you will watch them more than once! |
Becoming
This beautiful documentary about Michelle Obama is not only inspiring but a reminder of how old time values like kindness, grace, leadership through example, and doing the right thing, should once again become the common practice and what we teach our children. Thrown into the spotlight instead of seeking it out, this documentary highlights how using your platform to support others really can make a difference. Even after leaving the Whitehouse she continues to inspire women and children in their becoming the best versions of themselves. Watching this documentary highlighted the fact that we ALL have a platform, whether big or small, we are all touching the lives of others in some way, and have a reach far beyond our imagination. So set the right intention of how you are going to use your personal platform to make a the world a better place, and it will grow from there!

He Named Me Malala
This is a story about how a little girl who is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in really can change the world. As the youngest recipient of the Nobel Piece Prize she has made it her life's work to stand up for young woman and children to have the ability to go to school and receive an education. She was nearly killed for this belief and her willingness to speak out against the injustices that she and many like her have faced. Although she barely made it out of her country alive, she is just as emboldened and standing true to the cause. Her conviction, bravery and confidence are all qualities to look up to and to guide you as you determine your own contribution in the world. If you would like to support Malala in making sure that each girl in the world receives an education click HERE.

When I am down, feeling lost or uninspired, I reach for my virtual mentors for guidance. When looking for a solution, or a way to add value, or just pure motivation, I get silent and think to myself what would Beyoncé, or Bill or Hilary, etc. do if they were in this situation. It may sound strange, but trust me when I tell you I have found more solutions than not, using this method. By examining the work of each of these individuals you can see that they lived life on their terms, they were unabashedly themselves, and not afraid to go outside of the norm. Use this to give yourself permission to be you and do things your way in the world, in fact that is what we are all meant to do. So even when you don't have a supporting community circle or tribe around you, you can cultivate your own virtual tribe and use it to fuel you as you make your contribution and as you leave your own unique mark on the world.
