How to love exercising
We all know that exercising is important and if you are looking to truly create a life that you love this would be one of the first focus areas because you could have every material thing or relationship that you want but if you don't have your health in order to enjoy it, it's worthless. And I know for sure that selfcare for women especially with all the responsibilities we try to juggle is so important right now. With that said in this article:
I share some thoughts on how to find exercise you actually like to do.
I give you some short video classes for you to try when looking to add more physical activity in your life.
P.S. These videos actually changed my life… and short life update, I am actually now a certified instructor.
What I know for sure, as Oprah would say... is that incorporating exercise is one of the greatest gifts we can all give ourselves but….also the more difficult. However, this is the number one thing to focus on when trying to make any improvements to your life as this is the first domino in the domino effect of growth and change and in order to be well. Before you tackle any of the other areas in your life, please start here! This will give you the mental capacity, strength and energy to tackle all of your other goals, and the dopamine to enjoy the process along the way.
All that being said it is so difficult to start and maintain an exercise regime, we all start and stop, start and stop as I am sure that you have all done and lived. What I have found to get off of this roll-a-coaster is to find physical activity that you actually like doing.... yes it is possible, you just need to keep trying new things until you find it. Once you do, you will find yourself looking forward to it and enjoying all of the life enhancing benefits ( I find the mental benefits the most helpful especially with my stressful corporate job) however, I don't mind the effect it also has on the body! I have searched and tried new things for years to get to my favorites….the things that I actually look forward to doing. Here are mine:
Especially the classes with great instructors, music and in a dark room with lighting...almost like your are in a club. Something you may have heard of that is popular is "Soulcycle" check it out online!
Paddle boarding (in summer months)
Yours may be totally different and that's completely fine, the important thing is that you have well-being activties of your own in place. One of the first things that I found that really had an impact on mywholelife from that moment on, was Strala yoga. This is a yoga class like you have never had before, there's no judgment, it's not all about the poses and the way you look, it's about feeling great and moving your body how it best feels for you. I started with videos on YouTube and eventually moved into an in person 200 hour yoga teacher training course. I have curated some of my favorite free short classes for beginners from Tara Stiles (creator) to introduce you to the practice, try them once daily for a week or two and notice the difference in the way you feel.
Quick Tip - What you will also notice is that these classes are not super long. Start small, go step by step and grow from there. Trust me, you will notice a change even from doing these short classes and exercise for beginners on a consistent basis.
