The Christmas season is upon us and it is a time to be grateful for all that we have and to give back to others that are in need. I know that most of us have great intentions and would love to give back but are just not sure how. For those of you looking for some charitable ideas that you could try this season I have put together a list for you.
5 Ways You Can Giveback This Christmas:
1. Blessing Bags.
These are small bags of essentials that you hand out to the homeless or less fortunate to support them with their basic needs. This is a great exercise to do with your kids to get them in the giving spirit. There are tons of different variations and inspiration for the different types of blessing bags that you can put together on Pinterest. I have created a board with some ideas to inspire you HERE.
2. Feed America.
Tony Robbins has been a huge advocate to feeding the hungry in America and has created a non-profit with the purpose of providing 1 billion meals to people who need it. As we think about sitting down to our Christmas feasts let's take a moment to consider those who do not have such a gift. 3. Toys for Tots.
As you are buying all your Christmas gifts one not buy one extra for a child that may not receive anything on Christmas day. This is a valuable life lesson to share with your kids as they may not be aware just how good they have it and it will be good for them to understand how they can be generous to those that have less than them. Find out more about the Toys for Tots program and how you can help give gifts to children in need HERE.
4. Salvation Army.
Donate to the Salvation Army. Each year they raise money to buy gifts for less fortunate kids. They also provide support in many other ways to the community so when you give to this organization you are supporting those in need in a variety of ways. If you want to learn how you can help click HERE.
Volunteer your time for others this holiday season. This could be as simple as baking or cooking for a neighbor, visiting the elderly at your local home or hospital, volunteering at your local food bank or starting a fundraiser to support your favorite cause. Whatever it is you decide to do, you will be happier for it and the world will be just that much more of a better place!
There are so many ways in which you can giveback, these are just a few to inspire you. Let me know down in the comments what is your favorite way to giveback during the holiday season. And share your favorite charity, I always love to learn about the many ways we all come together to make the Christmas season great!
